WHO CARES WHAT AN EU BANK PRESIDENT THINKS ABOUT TRUMP ELECTION?
Bloomberg (1-12-24) breathlessly blasts a headline: “Lagarde Says History Suggests New Trump Term Would Be a Threat”. The Bloomberg author parrots comments of EU Central Bank President, Christine LaGarde who stated on France 2 TV yesterday that former President Donald Trump’s possible reelection “raises concerns” with the EU…He is “clearly a threat”. She added that her concerns were in regard to trade tariffs, his commitment to NATO, the fight against climate change —concluded that “he is not aligned with European interests”.
Should we, as US citizens and voters, (or Bloomberg) be at all concerned that Ms LaGarde—a European official— finds Mr. Trump a “threat”. Her concerns —from her Eurocentric view is that Mr Trump is threat to the EU and its well being. We should keep in mind that heads of state such as Mr.Macron, Mr Netanyahu and Chancellor Olaf Scholz of Germany, are all elected as is Mr. Trump to serve the best interests of their respective nations. These Euro folk too often and too much see the USA as a military protector and cash cow.
We we who are concerned with the best interests of the USA —hope that Mr. Trump will serve those interests—not the EU or any other place!
We here in the USA applaud him for his stand against NATO freeloaders, his use of tariffs for the best interest of US workers and industry and his more nuanced, modulated, practical view of the threat of climate change.
