USA IMMIGRATION: THE WORLD’S OPEN BORDER NATION

There are many unusual characteristics of our complex and irrational  and immigration laws and policies.  See Ann Coulter (July 29, 2019) “How we became the world’s suckers on immigration.”  Coulter suggests that we must have simply “lost a bet” to become the nation with the world’s most irrational, random, and reckless policies.  She points out that the USA is one of only two nations which award “birthright citizenship”.  We also honor “anchor babies”—those children born to stray visitors, illegal aliens, and a pregnant woman who happens to overstay a visit or a visa.  That child becomes a citizen as well all of the child’s extended family—cousins, uncles, grandparents etc.etc,. These distant relatives are welcomed as well.  We also have a special category for those young children who were not born here but as minors—tagged along with adult illegal immigrant parents.  We call these children “dreamers”.  We confer citizenship on all these folks and make no requirement that they “speak our language”—a requirement that many other nations impose, so that citizens—old and new— can actually communicate with each other,  And believe this or not—with all of the folks crashing over our borders illegally, we also continue to operate a lottery for 50,000 or so more immigrants from distant “unrepresented”lands.  These lucky folks as well as all of their extended family, become instant citizens with the pulling of a winning slip out of a hat.

So the following story of Minnesota “marriage mystery and fraud” arising in that most northern contiguous state’s Minneapolis area may seem just another example of how some unscrupulous folks enter the USA and avoid, an uncomfortable flight in the later stages of pregnancy, or the long hot treck  across the southern desert, or even the dangerous swim across the rushing waters of the Rio Grande.  To sneak int the USA some folks simply go to live in “nice” Minnesota.

This tale of US immigration madness—not included in Ms Coulter’s piece above —concerns a nameless (but prominent) female political figure who seems to have a starkly exceptional concept of marriage, disrespect for immigration law, and a highly unusual marital history.

This unusual narrative (names changed to protect the innocent)  begins nearly four decades ago in a Horn of Africa nation torn by the chaos attendant to all civil wars.  As this nation descended into anarchy those of its citizenry who could, fled west into the relative safety of Central African refugee camps to escape the violence.  It was there in one of these camps two East African families  fleeing the war  found themselves living in close quarters.   One family (called here) the Ahmeds— were part of a religious minority group subjected to persecution in their native land.  For them documents were available that would permit them to seek asylum in the USA.   The other family (called here)  the Medis were members of a majority religion and could not prove they had suffered persecution and were not candidates for asylum.   As the Ahmed family  packed up to leave the camp, the kindly Ahmed patriarch  suggested to the Medi family  that they take one of the younger Medi children with them into better economic circumstances. The Medis  agreed and picked their young 8 year old daughter known (here) as Fatima to accompany  the Ahmeds to America.  Fatima would play the role as a legitimate member of the Ahmed family.  The Ahmeds reassured the other parents of the practicality of the plan.  Who would know, that Fatima was not of their family, they asked?  Who would be able to prove otherwise? The both families agreed, it was easy to fool the American immigration officials.

The Ahmeds with their (undocumented)  Medi child in tow eventually arrived in the USA and settled in the state of Minnesota in a Minneapolis neighborhood where other East African natives had settled in the past.  The years passed and  the young Fatima Medi —now known as  Fatima Ahmed, grew up into an attractive young woman,  In her late teens she was courted by and agreed to marry a young man —we will call him Ramesh— also of  East African immigrant parents. The young  married couple soon had  two children of their own.

When Fatima  was in her late 20s her estranged natural family had reason for  more frequent  contact. The Medis had eventually made it out of the Central Africa refugee camp and had migrated to the UK.  They had settled into an immigrant community in London.

As a result of these communications, Fatima learned that her birth brother — we will call him— Mohamed—was unhappy with his life in Britian.  His complaint was that in London he had limited opportunity.  He claimed he was subjected to intolerance. He  could envision little educational or financial opportunity in London..  Mohammed pleaded with his sister Fatima to help him get into America— where he could realize better options for financial advancement.  As his actual blood relative—his sister— could legally make a formal request for him to join her.  (Based on our family reunification policy).  But her difficulty was that Mohamed was no longer her family.  She had long ago established herself as an Ahmed family member,  How could she help her sibling  without revealing her fraudulent identity, and the illegality perpetrated by the kindly Ahmeds. There was also the fact that she had entered the country illegally as a presumptive member of a family to which she was not related.

One way to help Mohammed get into the USA was still an option for Fatima.  That was the time honored method of fraudulent  marriage,  She—as an Ahmed— could marry Mohamed  If Mohammed was the spouse of an American citizen, based on family reunification policy he would be granted  permanent US residence status and a much desired green card.  But Fatima was already married to Ramesh!   However, for Fatima —who had little respect for the intelligence of US officials and had overconfidence in her ability to defraud them—fraudulent marriage was the easy remedy,  Who would know?  Who could prove otherwise, she asked?  She decided she would simply divorce Ramesh and marry her birth brother Mohammed to permit him to enter the USA!  This divorce and  marriage were of course both fraudulent. Ramesh, his family and the Ahmeds probably were all well aware of and complicit in on this immigration illegality and malfeasance committed against the US government and the American tax payers.

In due course—the divorce between Fatima and Ramesh was accomplished.  Upon Mohammed’s arrival in the US,  Fatima quickly married her brother Mohammed.  As per their plan, he received residence status and a green card,  The newly “married” couple—Fatima and Mohammed—with Fatima’s two children by her previous marriage took up a new life.

The newly married couple, but now with Fatima’s  ex-husband Ramesh in tow (making up a really strange family unit) packed up and left Minnesota for North Dakota.  It was there in North Dakota where the strange family unit settled and lived together amicably. The  two men folk of this strange family unit enrolled in a degree program at North Dakota University.

In due time, the two men completed their degrees and the strange family unit of husband, ex husband and two children now departed for Minnesota again. Back in their own community Fatima—now with child again—divorced Mohammed.  Mohammed (the brother/husband) with his fresh degree from university in hand, (and now much improved options for employment) departed for the UK where he was reunited with his own family—the Medis.  Immediately after his departure , Fatima  remarried her first husband Ramesh and father of her (three) children.

So these are some of the stories coming out of Minnesota.  Who would have thought such things would occur there in “nice” Minnesota?  And we also learn how frequently and how flagrantly and how  easy it is to defraud the American immigration system and the American taxpayers?

Most recently (July 25, 2019) the person at the center of this seeming fraud has done it again.  She has divorced again the poor sap Ramesh!

One wonders,  does merry married Fatima  have another sibling that she plans to fraudulently marry and bring to the USA?
