“SEND HER BACK” FREE SPEECH— NOT RACISM

NYT SMEARS TRUMP WITH RACISM

SUPPORTS “SQUAD” VITRIOL BUT  LABELS TRUMP SUPPORTERS “RACIST”

The NY Times Editorial Board opinion piece: “The Real Meaning Of “Send Her Back” ( Friday July 19, 2019) attacks President Trump as an “avid race warrior”, who “foments racial hatred”.   But the core of the Times editor’s argument is unsupported by fact.  Clear to anyone who observed the speech was that  the President aimed his polemical ire at Ilhan Omar (D Min) not for her race or national originbut her seeming hatred of America.   The Times claims the President “smeared Representative Omar for trafficking in vicious anti-semitic screeds”.  But yes, she did make those statements.  The editors at NYT attack  Mr. Trump for characterizing  Omar as a “left wing radical who sympathizes with Al Qaida”.   Media reports and quotes of the representative from Minnesota support this conclusion.  But the authors of the Times’ opinion piece try mightily to suggest to the reader that the allegations of the President regarding Ms Omar have no basis in fact.

The fact is that Rep. Omar has a right to her opinions.  Thankfully, as a US citizen she also has a right to express them.  The majority of Americans may not agree with her and that is their right too.  This IS America.

Rep Omar was legitimately elected by the voters of the 5th CD in Minnesota.  If she represents their opinions,  no one can argue with the voter’s choice.  The President has concluded—with probable good cause —that Rep Omar “looks down on working class Americans and hates America”.  These are reasonable conclusions based on Rep Omar’s own statements.  He also reminded the crowd in NC that Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) referred to “contemporary America as “garbage”.  That is also true based upon the Congresswoman's published comments.

Our nation prides itself on free speech.  Our Constitution enshrines those beliefs  of unfettered free dialogue as a critical element for a vibrant responsive democracy.  Sadly, the NY Times has forgotten this. They are  happy to  applaud and encourage Reps Omar and Cortez’s  freedom to air their opinions and even outdated, déclassé political theories,  but would like to silence and smear as racist the free speech of people of North Carolina.  But this seeming oversight  is actually part of a sinister election strategy of which the former “great gray lady” on 41St NYC is now a political partner. .

Readers of this screed should realize that the “racist” canard used so frequently by the left (and above in the NYT) against Mr. Trump and his supporters is just another cheap election  strategy of the Democrats and nothing more.  To win in 2020 the Democrats must energize the African American faction which is a major part of their increasingly narrow and unrepresentative coalition, now confined to illegal aliens, urbanites, the LBGTQ community, and radical pro-abortion feminists living within the nation’s narrow coastal zones.  The Democrats have foolishly abandoned the numberless independent and moderate working class people who reside  in our nation’s vast Mississippi and Ohio river drainages —whom they at one time claimed to represent.  These Americans they have left for Mr. Trump to succor and represent.

The left and its media facilitators have embraced a divisive, dangerous  and foolish strategy which seems more and more likely to lead to defeat.
